Bio
Sarah Northcott has been writing songs for almost three decades. She is currently working on her fourth album.
“Like painting, songwriting is another form of expression. With constraints come creativity. Once you understand the structure of a song, it allows you the pathway to tell stories both personal and universal. Music allows us to process our shared experiences.”
Sarah has played and recorded with many accomplished musicians and songwriters including Colin Linden (from Blackie and the Rideo Kings and music composer for Netflix show Nashville) on her songs ‘Blue River Eyes’ and ‘Linda’, and with the late slide guitar legend Kelly Joe Phelps on ‘George’ and ‘Moon Game’. More recently with Smithers locals including Naomi Kavka, Jake Jenne, Mark Thibeault, and Colin Maskell. Her song, ‘Lost Cowboy’, was inspired by a true story of a missing cowboy near Merritt, BC. She has recently received a Bulkley Valley Arts council grant and a Creative BC Grant and is recording locally and in Vancouver.
